About Miriam Holman

OUR MISSION

Miriam Holman (Miriam bas Zelig Shaul A"H), our beloved daughter and sister, had a vision and mission: to create a caring community where families who have experienced the unimaginable pain of losing a child can find hope, love, support, and comfort.

Miriam’s compassionate spirit was deeply influenced by her older sister, Nechama Liba. Diagnosed at age five with a rare illness, Nechama Liba endured her struggles with extraordinary grace, maturity, and joy. Even as she faced her final moments, just days before her eleventh birthday, she smiled—a gesture of resilience and faith that left an indelible mark on Miriam. Nechama’s wisdom and strength became a guiding light for Miriam, shaping her vision to help others navigate their grief with dignity and support.

Following Miriam’s untimely passing, Mayrim was formed to carry out her dream. Mayrim provides a safe and loving space for bereaved families to come together, heal, and find connection. Through a variety of year-round events, families can remember and honor their loved ones while forming meaningful, lasting friendships. These events are designed to foster both healing and growth in an environment that radiates warmth, understanding, and care.

Everything Miriam did in her life was filled with passion, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others. Even during her most challenging moments, she brought light and joy to those around her. Inspired by Miriam’s legacy and Nechama Liba’s enduring example, Mayrim is committed to offering families the same love and support that defined their lives.

In honor of all those who have lived complete and fulfilling lives, however brief, Mayrim is dedicated to transforming grief into strength and creating a community of hope, resilience, and connection. Together, we strive to bring light to the darkest moments and ensure that no family walks this journey alone.

WELCOME LETTER

First, we want to let you know how deeply sorry we are for the unimaginable loss that brought you to this group. No parent ever expects to walk this path, and yet, here you are. Welcome to a place we wish you never had to find. Now that you’re here, know that you’re not alone.

While no two losses are identical, the grief your family is currently enduring can best be understood by others who share a similar loss. MAYRIM was founded to offer a supportive, compassionate, healing space for families who have experienced the devastating loss of a child.

Miriam Holman (Miriam bas Zelig Shaul A"H), our beloved daughter, began the mission to create a caring community where families who have experienced the indescribable pain of losing a child, can find hope, love, support, and comfort. Miriam’s compassionate spirit was deeply influenced by her older sister, Nechama Liba. Diagnosed at age five with a rare illness, Nechama Liba endured her struggles with extraordinary grace, maturity, and joy. Nechama’s wisdom, and strength became a guiding light for Miriam, shaping her vision to help others navigate their grief with dignity and resilience. Following Miriam’s untimely passing, MAYRIM was formed to carry out her dream. MAYRIM provides a safe and loving space for bereaved families to come together, heal, and find connection.

There’s no timeline for grief and no “right way” to feel, to cope, or to heal. Even within a family, each member may be grieving in entirely different ways. Our staff at MAYRIM understand this and are here to offer support for you, each in your own way.  It is a place where everything you bring is met with compassion and without judgment as you navigate through your journey.

After a loss, people often feel as though no one else “gets it.” Our hope is that you will find comfort in this space where others truly understand, without having to explain. Support groups can provide you a safe space to share, to cry, to hear from others. It is a space of
connection and understanding—where sadness is shared, burdens are lightened, and hope can begin to shine. Through a variety of year-round events, families can remember and honor their loved ones while building lasting friendships. Mothers connect with other mothers, while fathers connect with fathers. Siblings find much needed comfort here at MAYRIM, as they make everlasting bonds that continue beyond the confines of the support groups.

MAYRIM exists because no one should walk this road alone. Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, your grief matters. Your story matters. We can’t fix the pain but we’re here to walk beside you in it. We are here for you—with open hearts, listening ears, and the understanding that comes only from lived experience.  Together, we can find strength and resilience as we lift one another.

With heartfelt compassion,
Glen and Saguite Holman, founders of MAYRIM
